Here are 5 simple steps to score a perfect internship -
1. Create a list
If you wish to intern for a specific company, do not go and drill down a specific company. Instead, you should look at the industry. For example – if you are into fashion, create a list of 10-20 companies who are into fashion. You don’t have to limit yourself to a number, the more the better!
2. Reach out
Once you have a list of these companies, you need to start applying or approaching them for an internship.
There are 3 easy ways to do so –

Email:
Write an email to the company's official email address. You can even try to get the company's HR's name or Email ID. Be creative with your subject-line. Make it a catchy one! -
Phone Call:
Call them on the number/s listed on their website. Introduce yourself and describe your interest in doing an internship with them. Do ask the person on call for the company's email ID. -
LinkedIn:
Connect to them through a LinkedIn account and send then an InMail.
3. Express your passion
Always express your passion for the internship. They might not actively look for interns at that moment but if you have left a good impression on them, they will remember you and they might as well give you a chance.
During your internship interview or while you’re writing an email to the concerned company, always let your knowledge come out! For example: If you are good at fashion and have had a good amount of experience in blogging, speak about your experience and the acquired skill-set.
4. Ask details about your internship
It is very important to ask them for details regarding your internship. Ask them in the right manner- what will be your day-to-day routine, what your work concerns, what domain are you working in, because you don’t want to do something you don’t enjoy. That can, at times, even leave a very negative impact on you. There is no harm in asking for clarifications and having a better understanding of the work you are going to perform.
If you are given a domain which you don’t really enjoy, express them your concern upfront but always in a nice manner that you will be more productive in “XYZ” domain than in “ABC” domain.
5. Don't be afraid of rejections and don't get disappointed
Rejections are a part of life. You will be rejected. A lot of people will not appreciate you. They might even be negative towards you and tell you that you are not good enough.
Do not get disappointed. Move on, look for another company and if that doesn’t work, go for another company. Something will work out. Never give up! Keep believing in yourself.
